The SOS movement simply calls to an end to immigration systems that trap vulnerable people in cycles of abuse by tying their legal residency to sponsors (spouses or employers). This dependency creates a deadly power imbalance where abusers weaponize deportation threats to enforce silence, trapping victims in exploitation, and modern slavery. This is especially catastrophic for those with nowhere safe to return. Like those fleeing war or those from communities that practice honour-based violence risk murder, familial retaliation, or state oppression if deported.
